The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating property damage and a theft at Rex Rieger Landscaping, 2591 Old Hwy. 141, in unincorporated Fenton. The incident happened between about 5:30 p.m. Dec. 10 and 4:40 a.m. Dec. 11, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Part of the roof on the main building was torn off, and the door was ripped off a tool shed at the business.
In addition, keys to a pickup were taken, and the Ford F-150 was stolen from the parking lot, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
It also looked like someone tried to remove part of a roof from a tool shed, but then attached a chain to the stolen pickup and used it to force open the shed door. Then, landscaping tools and equipment valued at about $10,000 were stolen from the shed, according to the report.
A deputy found the pickup on Dec. 11 near Eureka, but the tools and equipment were not recovered. The pickup was returned to the business, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
As of Dec. 16, none of stolen tools and equipment had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said. Anyone with information about the incident should call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
