The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a pickup, which was quickly recovered after the victim’s grandson chased the suspects. The incident happened about 3 a.m. Jan. 9, when two suspects stole the victim’s 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup from outside a home in the 1000 block of Wolf Hollow Road in Imperial, a report said.

The pickup had been left unlocked with the keys inside, according to the report.

The victim’s grandson, who’s 40 and lives in Pevely, chased the suspects in another vehicle. The suspects abandoned the stolen pickup and ran away, headed toward Old State Road and Canterbury Circle in Imperial, the report said.

When the pickup was recovered, it had extensive damage on the passenger front end/quarter-panel area and a flat passenger-side front tire. The pickup was towed from the scene and returned to the owner, according to the report.

As of Jan. 18, no arrests had been made, Cpl. Matthew Moore said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
