A pickup stolen from a home in the 6200 block of Old Antonia Road in Imperial was found on fire that same morning in House Springs. However, the items that were in the pickup when it was stolen were not recovered, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.

At about 5:45 a.m. June 3, a deputy found the 1999 Ford F-250 pickup engulfed in flames on a dirt road about 600 feet from the intersection of Bear Creek Road and Midridge Drive in House Springs. The High Ridge Fire Protection District put out the fire, the report said.

When the deputy found the pickup, the doors and gas tank lid were open. The license plate also was removed from the pickup, according to the report.

The owner of the pickup, an Imperial man, called the Sheriff’s Office at about 8 a.m. that day to report the pickup missing. The man said he had been repairing the truck, and at about 7 p.m. June 2, he parked it in a detached shed on his property and left the keys inside, the report said.

He said he returned to the shed at about 8 a.m. June 3 and discovered the pickup was gone. He said there were multiple tools and a power washer in the bed of the pickup. The pickup was valued at $10,500, and the tools and power washer together were valued at $3,711, according to a report.

As of June 10, none of the missing items had been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said.
