Festus Police are investigating the theft of a pickup left unlocked and with the keys inside outside the 7-Eleven store, 1301 Veterans Blvd. (Hwy. A). The theft happened about 10 a.m. Oct. 10, Chief Tim Lewis said.
He said the victim was a 50-year-old Festus man.
“The victim went inside to make a purchase and when he came out, his 2007 Dodge 1500 pickup truck had been stolen. He left the keys on the console and the vehicle was unlocked,” Lewis said. “Two witnesses said they saw a white male, mid-20s, about 5-6, in a black and red ballcap and wearing a yellow bandanna, with something on his wrist, get in and steal the pickup.”
Lewis said he had no estimate for the value of the pickup.
As of Oct. 13, the pickup had not been recovered and no arrests have been made, he said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
