jcso 2 children dead 5-28-24

Investigators search a Mazda SUV that was driven this morning to Festus City Hall and Police Station on Tuesday morning by a woman who allegedly told officers she killed two of her children.

A pickup was stolen from outside Telle Tire and Auto Center, 1643 Old Hwy. 141, in unincorporated Fenton. The owner of the 2005 Dodge Ram had left it at the auto center to be repaired, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The Ram had been left unlocked, but the keys were not in the vehicle. The pickup was valued at about $20,000, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

The owner said he had left the pickup at the auto center at about 4:30 p.m. Nov. 30, and an employee called him at about 11:40 a.m. Dec. 1 and said the Ram was gone, according to the report.

As of Dec. 14, the pickup had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asked anyone with information about the pickup to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
