Arnold Police are investigating the theft of a pickup left unlocked and running outside a Mobil On the Run gas station, 3611 W. Outer Road. The 2016 Dodge Ram was valued at $57,000, and items worth about $7,900 were inside the pickup when it was stolen.
The pickup was stolen at about 9:40 pm. Oct. 23. Items inside the truck included a cell phone, laptop computer and tools, the report said.
The stolen iPhone 8 Plus, which was valued at about $800, was recovered on Oct. 25 in Collinsville, Ill. After using the phone’s tracking device, police traced it to a home in Collinsville, and a woman told authorities she found it on the side of the road and gave it to the police, according to the report.
The theft of the pickup happened after the victim, a 35-year-old Arnold man, pulled into the gas station and went inside the convenience store. Surveillance footage showed that while the victim was inside the store, a white pickup pulled into the lot behind the Ram. A man got out of the white pickup and allegedly drove off in the Ram. The white pickup, which appeared to be driven by a woman, followed the Ram off the parking lot, police reported.
As of Oct. 30, the Ram, laptop, tools and other items were still missing, and police had not identified the man or woman seen in the surveillance footage, Capt. Rich Shular said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
