A 33-year-old Pevely woman allegedly flushed suspected illegal drugs in a toilet while staying in a room at the America’s Best Inn, 1725 W. Fifth St., in Eureka. Police went to the hotel to arrest the woman and a 36-year-old Crystal City man because they were both wanted on outstanding warrants, Eureka Police reported.

Officers at about 11:40 p.m. Feb. 25 went to the room the two were staying in at the hotel, and the man answered the door after officers knocked on it. The man closed the door, telling the officers that he was putting clothes away, and then he opened it again, the report said.

Officers confirmed that the man and woman were both wanted on warrants, and they both were arrested, according to the report.

Officers allegedly saw multiple pills and syringes in the toilet. The pills were unable to be retrieved from the toilet, and additional suspected illegal drugs and paraphernalia were found in the toilet’s tank, the report said.

Officers also reported finding other suspected narcotics throughout the hotel room.

The woman allegedly told the officers the suspected narcotics belonged to her, and the man refused to talk to police, according to the report.

The woman was wanted on warrants by the Jefferson County and Ste. Genevieve County sheriff’s offices, and the man was wanted on a warrant by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the report said.

The two were transported to the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, according to the report.

Depending on results of the drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against the woman through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Detective Lt. Brett Grittini said. He said Eureka Police were not seeking charges against the man.
