Pevely Police are investigating several vehicle break-ins discovered March 28. Items were stolen from one of the cars, which was parked in the 8400 block of Kenmon Court, police reported.

The victim, a 58-year-old woman, said she found the items missing from her Chevrolet Cruze at about 10:55 a.m. The car had been parked in front of her home on Kenmon Court since about 7:30 p.m. the day before.

“She came out to find groceries she’d left in her trunk had been stolen,” Miller said. “She did not lock the car. It was dry goods.”

He said the groceries were valued at more than $50.

Miller said a wallet that did not belong to the victim was found in the woman’s driveway.

“(The thief) must have gotten it from another car,” Miller said.

He said identification was located in the wallet and the owner was contacted.

Other people who live in the area said they believe their vehicles had been broken into during the same period, but no one else reported anything missing as of today (April 1), Miller said.

“Those vehicles also were not locked,” Miller said.

He asks anyone with information about the vehicle break-ins to call Pevely Police at 636-475-4498.
