man in handcuffs

Pevely Police arrested a 51-year-old Fenton man after allegedly catching him stealing pallets from Vicon Machinery LLC, 1190 Mason Circle East. The suspect also allegedly was found with prescription drugs that were not his, as well as drug paraphernalia, Capt. Larry Miller said.

The incident occurred about 2:30 p.m. Jan. 19 when an officer allegedly spotted the suspect getting wood pallets from behind the business and taking them to his truck, Miller said.

“When the officer asked for the subject’s identification, the subject stated it was in his vehicle and began walking in the direction of his truck,” Miller said. “The officer began following the subject, at which time (the suspect) started running, changing directions and heading north.”

During the chase, the suspect fell while going down a steep hill, and the officer apprehended him. The business did not wish to press charges, but Pevely Police will seek charges because the suspect allegedly was found with “Lorazepam pills that were not his, syringes and burnt spoons with residue,” Miller said.

He said the suspect was booked and then released pending application for warrants. Depending on results from the drug analysis, Pevely Police will seek charges against him for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest, he said.

The man had not been charged as of Tuesday (Feb. 5), Miller said.
