Pevely Police Capt. Tony Moutray praised two officers who made a drug bust early March 31 on the Express Mart I-55 Motor Plaza parking lot, 17007 Hwy. Z.

“Our officers – Officer Christy Penfield and Officer Neal Jasper – were on patrol around 4 a.m. and noticed two subjects in a vehicle on the parking lot,” Moutray said. “They went to check on them to see if they needed any assistance.”

The officers ended up arresting a 30-year-old St. Louis man and a 32-year-old High Ridge woman for drug possession and other charges, Moutray said.

“We’re seeking charges for possession of a controlled substance, amphetamines and hallucinogens,” he said. “We’re seeking a charge of possession of a controlled substance and a fugitive felon on the man and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of delivery of a controlled substance and a count of possession of a controlled substance in jail on the woman. An officer found drugs on her when she was brought to jail.”

Moutray said officers Penfield and Jasper are two of the newest hires to his police force.

“They’ve both been with us since November,” he said. “This was just good, old-fashioned police work.”
