A 28-year-old Pevely man was arrested after he allegedly entered a neighbor’s home with a box-cutter knife and chainsaw before leaving the home and attempted to set fire to a nearby trailer, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies were called on May 27 to the 2500 block of Sandy Creek Road west of Pevely after the man started arguing with people inside the home. During the argument, he allegedly pulled out and opened a box-cutter knife that he held behind his leg, the report said.
The man kicked a chair that allegedly hit one of the residents, causing a cut. He then left the home and shattered many of its windows, according to the report.
After allegedly breaking the windows, he went back to a nearby trailer that he had been living in, poured oil on it and tried to set it on fire, the report said.
After the man was arrested, he was transported to an area hospital due to having cuts on his hands, according to the report.
The Sheriff’s Office will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for first-degree trespassing, fourth-degree assault and property damage, spokesman Grant Bissell said.
