A 37-year-old Pevely man was cited for assault following an apparent road-rage incident. He allegedly told an officer he punched a man in the face during the incident, Arnold Police reported.
Police were contacted at about 2:15 p.m. Feb. 5 following the alleged confrontation between the suspect and a 48-year-old St. Louis man who was a passenger in a vehicle parked outside Starbucks, 3884 Hwy. 141, the report said.
The driver of that vehicle was turning right from Jeffco Boulevard onto Hwy. 141 and reportedly cut off three people riding motorcycles. The Pevely man, who was one of the motorcycle riders, yelled at the driver and made hand gestures at the vehicle, according to the report.
Police said the motorcyclist followed the vehicle to Starbuck’ parking lot and pulled up next to the vehicle’s passenger side. The passenger-side window was down, and the rider reportedly challenged the passenger to get out of the vehicle before punching the man through the open window.
The motorcyclist then left the area. However, two people who been riding with him stayed near the scene and contacted the suspect, who returned to the parking lot, the report said.
The suspect allegedly admitted to punching the man and said he was sorry for losing his temper. An officer issued the man a summons to appear in Arnold Municipal Court for fourth-degree assault, Cpl. Brett Ackermann said.
