The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary at a home in the 8400 block of Commercial Boulevard north of Pevely. The burglary occurred when the residents were out of town, authorities reported.
The victims told investigators they left their home at about 5 p.m. May 24 and returned at about 11:30 a.m. May 30 to find the house ransacked. Investigators believe a door to the garage was forced open, the report said.
An angle grinder appeared to have been used to cut a hole in the side of gun safe, and money was stolen from a safe. The Sheriff’s Office did not provide an amount for the stolen money.
The victims said antique silverware, a wedding ring set, Stihl lawn equipment and power tools were taken from the home. The Sheriff’s Office also did not provide an approximate value for the stolen items.
As of June 10, none of the stolen money or items had been located, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the burglary to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
