Nathaniel Newman Arcelona, 33, of St. Louis is facing at least two felony charges after Eureka Police arrested him twice in two days, court records show.

Arcelona was first arrested on July 15 following a call about a disturbance at the QuikTrip gas station, 290 E. Fourth St., in Eureka. He was arrested again the next morning at a home in the 300 block of Eureka Road, Capt. Michael Werges said.

He was arrested at about 11:40 p.m. July 15 when an Uber driver – a 51-year-old St. Louis man – called police to the QuikTrip gas station. The driver pulled into the gas station because Arcelona allegedly had caused a problem while being driven from St. Louis to Owensville, the report said.

The driver told investigators he was driving a 2021 Nissan Rogue on I-44 when Arcelona began yelling and cursing, saying the driver was headed the wrong way. The driver said he was following an electronic map and was traveling in the correct direction, according to the report.

Arcelona tried to jump out of the SUV while on the interstate, the driver said.

The driver also said he believed Arcelona smoked something while in the backseat, the report said.

When officers arrived, Arcelona allegedly refused to get his possessions out of the SUV, and officers told Arcelona they would provide him a ride to his destination, or he would have to go through Uber to arrange for a different driver, according to the report.

Arcelona continued to refuse to remove his possessions from the SUV, and he was arrested for trespassing. After Arcelona was taken to the Police Station, an officer allegedly found pills believed to be an illegal substance in Arcelona’s pocket, the report said.

Arcelona was issued summonses to appear in Eureka Municipal Court for alleged trespassing and refusing to comply with officers’ orders, according to the report.

Depending on results of the drug analysis, Eureka Police will seek charges against the Arcelona through the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance, Werges said.

Eureka Police released Arcelona on the morning of July 16 and offered him a ride, but he refused and walked away from the Police Station with his belongings, Werges said.

Police were called at about 8:35 a.m. July 16 to the home on Eureka Road when a woman said she saw someone enter her garage and try to enter her home through her back door, the probable-cause statement in the case said.

The woman also called her son, who lives nearby, and he allegedly saw Arcelona in the garage. Arcelona had left the home by the time police arrived, but officers found him walking near Eureka Road and arrested him, the report said.

The back driver-side window was shattered on a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse that was parked in the garage. The cost to replace the window was estimated at $569.93, Eureka Police reported.

Officers also saw footprints that allegedly matched Arcelona’s shoes in the garage and on steps leading to the back door, according to the report.

On July 17, Arcelona was charged in St. Louis County with first-degree attempted burglary, a class C felony punishable by three to 10 years in prison, and second-degree property damage, a class B misdemeanor that carries a penalty of up to six months in jail and a possible fine of up to $1,000. Court records show Arcelona was being held on July 24 in the St. Louis County Jail on a $30,000 cash-only bond.
