The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a motorcycle from a pole barn in the 8900 block of Old Hwy. 21 north of Hillsboro. The victim discovered her orange and white 1964 Honda 50 motorcycle had been stolen after deputies recovered two other vehicles that belong to her northeast of Hillsboro, authorities reported.
Her 2004 Honda Recon ATV and 1999 Honda Rebel motorcycle were found abandoned Dec. 12 in a wooded area off Sandy Church Road. Neither the ATV nor the motorcycle had been reported stolen, but deputies learned that the woman owned them, the report said.
The woman told the deputies the motorcycle and ATV belong to her, but she was not aware they had been stolen from her barn. She also told the deputies the lock on the barn’s door had been broken on Dec. 5, and she had not checked to see if anything was missing since then, according to the report.
When they went to the barn, the woman told deputies the Honda 50 was missing, too. She did not provide an estimated value for the Honda motorcycle, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
As of Dec. 20, the Honda motorcycle had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. Anyone with information about the missing motorcycle should call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
