Festus Police are investigating the theft of more than $5,000 in items stolen from a pickup parked outside the Holiday Inn Express & Suites, 1302 Gamel Cemetery Road. The pickup and stolen items belong to a guest who was staying at the hotel, Police Chief Tim Lewis said.
The incident was reported at approximately 7 a.m. Jan. 10, he said.
“The victim, a 64-year-old Warrensburg man, discovered someone had broken into his 2015 Chevrolet Silverado,” Lewis. “They broke two windows on the truck and the camper shell window.”
Stolen items included numerous tools; clothing, including 5X size shirts; and electrical equipment. The stolen items and the damage to the pickup were estimated at $5,346, Lewis said.
As of Jan. 15, he said, none of the stolen items had been recovered. Anyone with information about the theft is urged to call the Festus Police at 636-937-3646.
