A 7-year-old boy reportedly was playing with matches and started a small fire July 1 in a mobile home on Bridlewood Court in House Springs, said Fire Marshal Ron Tisius of the High Ridge Fire Protection District.
The boy, his siblings and his mother were home at the time of the fire, and they were able to get out of the house on their own. No one was injured, Tisius said.
He said the boy was playing with the matches in his closet, and the fire was contained to the bedroom and closet.
High Ridge Fire got a call about the fire at 6:10 p.m., and firefighters arrived on the scene at 6:18 p.m., Tisius said.
He said the fire was extinguished by 6:20 p.m., but crews stayed on the scene until 7:25 p.m.
The Saline Valley Fire Protection District assisted with the call, Tisius said.
