David Allen McNeal, 46, of High Ridge, a persistent offender, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison following felony driving while intoxicated charges and a probation violation, court records show.
In July 2012, McNeal was found driving under the influence of alcohol on I-55 near Hwy. Z in Pevely, where he was driving outside the lines, passing on the shoulder and driving erratically, the probable-cause statement said.
He had “watery, blood-shot eyes,” “slurred speech” and appeared intoxicated, said the officer who arrested him, according to the report.
It was McNeal’s fifth offense, court papers indicate.
McNeal pleaded guilty to DWI-chronic offender in the case, and in June 2013, he was sentenced to 10 years, but after completing a treatment program, he was released in February 2015 on five years’ probation, and the sentence was suspended, the report said.
However, he violated his probation, and on Nov. 30, 2015, Jefferson County Div. 4 Circuit Judge Mark T. Stoll executed the 10-year sentence, according to the report in prison.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Thomas E. Hollingsworth handled the case.
McNeal previously was convicted of statutory sodomy and statutory rape, both felonies, stemming from an October 2006 incident in Jefferson County and was sentenced in February 2008 to five years in prison, according to court papers.
He also was convicted twice of failing to register as a sex offender, a felony offense, and was sentenced on Jan. 15 to four years in prison. That term is to be served concurrent, or at the same time, with the 10-year term, court documents show.
McNeal currently is in the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre.
