A 41-year-old Arnold man and a 34-year-old House Springs woman were arrested for alleged possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The two were arrested during a traffic stop in the 900 block of Arnold Commons Drive, Arnold Police reported.

At about 2:30 p.m. Dec. 13, an officer pulled over the 1994 Chevrolet S-10 they were traveling in because the license plate on the pickup had expired. The man, who was driving the pickup, and the woman both told the officer they didn’t have identification and provided names to the officer, the report said.

The officer had a police dog with him, and the dog indicated the possible presence of drugs in the pickup. When the officer searched the S-10, he allegedly found a bag filled with a white crystal-like substance and drug paraphernalia in the glove box, according to the report.

The officer also searched the woman’s purse and allegedly found a Missouri identification card with the woman’s real name along with a used syringe, two glass pipes and a bag that appeared to contain meth. The woman already was wanted on warrants for her arrest, the report said.

The woman allegedly told the officer she gave him a fake name because she knew she was wanted and didn’t want to be arrested. The man provided his real name to police, according to the report.

The two were taken to the Police Station, where they were booked and released pending application for warrants. Depending on results of the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man and woman through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, Capt. Rich Shular said.
