A St. Louis man who was walking along Hwy. 141 north of Arnold this morning (May 13) was struck by a car and killed, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.
At about 5:15 a.m., Jayson Ferner, 39, of St. Louis was hit by a 2012 Mazda 2 traveling north on the highway near Cecos Lane, Cpl. Juston Wheetley said.
Mark A. Missey, 28, of Arnold was driving the Mazda and remained at the scene. He told authorities he did not see Ferner, who was walking in the road near the shoulder, before striking him, the report said.
Ferner was pronounced dead at the scene, at 5:34 a.m., by Rock Township Ambulance personnel, according to the report.
No injuries were reported for Missey. He was wearing a seat belt, the patrol reported.
The Mazda was moderately damaged, the report said.
