The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking burglary charges against a man who allegedly broke into a home in the 5700 block of Grizzley Drive in Byrnes Mill. The victim said the intruder was his ex-boyfriend, a 25-year-old Gerald man, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.
At about 5:30 a.m. Sept. 17, the suspect knocked on the front door of the home and when the victim unlocked the deadbolt and started to open the door, the suspect allegedly forced it open, cracking the door frame and causing $250 in damage, the report said.
The suspect entered the home and “got into a physical altercation” with the victim. The altercation carried over onto the front porch but then back inside the home, and the suspect began yelling at the victim. Eventually, after the victim asked his ex-boyfriend to leave, he did, driving away in a gray Mercedes, according to the report.
The Sheriff’s Office has issued an arrest warrant for the suspect, but as of Wednesday (Sept. 27), he had not been taken into custody, Cpl. Matthew Moore said.
