A pickup stolen from outside Club Fitness in Arnold was quickly recovered. However, the victim lost $1,500 in cash and other items after a locker he was using at the gym was ransacked, Arnold Police said.
Police were called at about 9:45 a.m. June 2 to the gym, 2218 Michigan Ave., after the victim discovered someone had gone through the locker he was using to store his belongings while he worked out. The man said he had put a lock on the locker, but there were no signs the lock was cut or damaged, the report said.
In addition to the $1,500, the man’s wallet, credit cards and a key fob to a 2019 Dodge Ram were stolen from the locker. Apparently the culprit then used the stolen key fob to steal the pickup from the parking lot, along with tools, checks and golf clubs stored in the pickup, according to the report.
About an hour after police received the report about the theft, officers found the pickup on Taravue Lane in St. Louis County. Except for the cash and key fob, all the man’s possessions were still in the pickup, the report said.
As of June 12, the cash and key had not been recovered, and there were no suspects, Capt. Rich Shular said. Anyone with information about the incident should call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
