Eureka Police patch

Surveillance video allegedly show a man breaking into multiple display cases at Walmart, 131 Eureka Towne Center Drive, on Jan. 19 and stealing more than $1,000 worth of merchandise while another man appeared to act as a lookout, Eureka Police reported.

The men reportedly entered the store at about 3 a.m. One was wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and red shoes, and the other man was wearing a Cubs baseball hat, dark jacket and gray sweatpants, police reported.

At 3:38 a.m., the surveillance video allegedly showed the man in the hooded sweatshirt breaking into a GoPro display case and taking two GoPro HERO8 cameras and a GoPro HERO7 camera, the report said.

The two men also could be seen in the sporting goods section aisle, where the man in the sweatshirt allegedly broke the lock off a car stereo display case and put radios in a cart. Then the two went to another aisle, and the man in the sweatshirt allegedly broke another lock and removed two BB guns from a display case, the report said.

The two men then went in different directions, and the man in the sweatshirt entered the store’s clothing section. He allegedly removed the BB guns from their packaging and hid them under his clothes, along with the cameras, before leaving the cart that had the radios and other items in it, according to the report.

The two men then allegedly left the store without paying for any items. The GoPro HERO8 cameras are worth a combined $694, and the GoPro HERO7 camera is worth $277. A Walther Legend BB gun, worth $35, and a Crossman BB gun, worth $17, also were stolen, the report said.

It will cost about $250 to repair the damage to the GoPro display case, and the lock on the stereo display case is worth $50. There was no value reported for the lock broken on the BB gun display case.

As of Jan. 30, one of the stolen items had been recovered and there were no arrests, Capt. David Wilson said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
