Gage Luttman, 37, of Hillsboro has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to 241 crimes in St. Louis Circuit Court. He admitted to a series of burglaries and thefts that occurred over several months in southwest St. Louis, court records show.

A grand jury on June 11, 2024, indicted Luttman on 252 felony and misdemeanor charges, which included charges for stealing, burglary, tampering with a motor vehicle, property damage and assault, according to court documents.

As part of Luttman’s plea agreement, the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office dismissed 11 felony stealing of firearm charges. Luttman’s sentences included terms of six months in jail, 10 years in prison and 14 years in prison, but the sentences will be served concurrently, or at the same time, for a total of 14 years, court records said.

Luttman currently is incarcerated in the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre.

St. Louis assistant circuit attorney Michael Ware prosecuted the case.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office initially charged Luttman with 11 felonies and three misdemeanors on April 3, 2024. He was then charged with 252 felony and misdemeanor crimes on May 17, 2024, according to court documents.

Luttman was arrested in April 2024 when a search warrant was executed at his Hillsboro home and many of the stolen items were recovered, according to the case’s probable-cause statement.

Luttman committed the burglaries and thefts between August 2023 and March 2024, mostly in southwest St. Louis, targeting businesses, basements, garages, and storage units. He stole thousands of dollars in tools, guns, electronics, musical instruments, jewelry and other items, the report said.

He also stole eight vehicles, a 2014 Hyundai, 2016 Hyundai Accent, 2020 Kia Sportage, 2010 Kia Soul, 2003 Dodge Ram, 2006 Honda Element, 1955 Citroen 2CV and a Vespa scooter. He often drove those vehicles while committing burglaries, and some of the vehicles were recovered with stolen items inside of them, according to the report.

Luttman was often seen in surveillance videos committing the crimes, and he was seen in surveillance videos from his own home with stolen items, the reports.

Police reported after Luttman’s arrest, storage unit and garage burglaries plummeted in the city’s Second District.

Most of the stolen items were returned to the burglary victims, the report said.

Luttman has been convicted on drug and burglary charges in Jefferson County. He also has pending cases in St. Charles County for possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, and St. Louis County for second-degree burglary, a class D felony, stealing of a motor vehicle, a class D felony, and stealing, a class A misdemeanor, court records said.

A class D felony is punishable by up to seven years in prison, and a class A misdemeanor carries a penalty of up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.
