A Jefferson County jury has found a Gray Summit woman guilty of stealing a pickup from a Fenton-area home and driving about 2 miles while the owner clung to the hood, according to court records.
Lori Ann Brockes, 46, of Gray Summit on June 3 was found guilty of first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and second-degree assault, both class D felonies punishable by up to seven years in prison. She is scheduled to be sentenced on July 30, court documents show.
Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Erik McCreary is prosecuting the case.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement, Brockes went to a home in the Jefferson County portion of Fenon on Oct. 17, 2021, and a man at the house told her to leave. The man then put down the keys to a 2008 Toyota Tundra on the porch and went inside.
Brockes took the keys and started the Tundra’s engine. The man then jumped on the pickup’s hood and told her to get out, the report said.
Brockes then drove away from the home with the man on the hood. She drove approximately 2 miles before stopping at a QuikTrip gas station, 2600 Old Hwy. 141, in Fenton, where she then ran away, according to the report.
