Mitchell L. Leach, 52, formerly of House Springs, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison following felony burglary and stealing charges and a probation violation, court records indicate.

In July 2010, Leach, a persistent offender, unlawfully entered a home in the 2000 block of Adare in Festus and stole $17,900 in items, the probable-cause statement said.

Leach, who most recently lived in St. Louis, pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary and stealing, both felonies, and in August 2012 he was sentenced to two 12-year terms to be served concurrently, or at the same time, but he was released in December 2012 on five years’ probation, court records show.

However, he violated his probation, and on April 6, Jefferson County Div. 6 Circuit Judge Troy A. Cardona executed the two 12-year terms, to be served concurrently, the report said.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Jacob T. Costello handled the case.

Those 12-year terms also are to be served concurrent with a 15-year term, two 10-year terms, a nine-year term, 14 seven-year terms and a four-year term for previous convictions, according to court papers.

Some of the other convictions are for felony burglary and stealing tied to a December 2000 incident in St. Louis County; felony burglary and stealing connected to a February 2001 incident in St. Louis County; felony burglary and stealing stemming from a March 2001 incident in St. Louis County; felony burglary and stealing connected to a May 2003 incident in St. Louis County; felony burglary tied to an October 2010 incident in Jefferson County; felony burglary, stealing and property damage stemming from a June 2015 incident in St. Louis County; and felony burglary and stealing tied to a June 2015 incident in St. Louis County.

Leach currently is in the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre.
