Investigators search a Mazda SUV that was driven this morning to Festus City Hall and Police Station on Tuesday morning by a woman who allegedly told officers she killed two of her children.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a car from outside a home in the 6500 block of Old Antonia Road in Imperial. The white 2016 Kia Optima was valued at about $15,000, police reported.

The car was stolen between 10 p.m. May 27 and 10 a.m. May 28. It had been left unlocked with the keys inside it, the report said.

As of May 30, the car had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, spokesman Grant Bissell said. He asks anyone with information about the theft to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
