Kentrez Robinson, 31, of Festus, a prior offender, has been sentenced to seven years and four months in federal prison on gun charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office reported.
Robinson pleaded guilty in December 2022 to two charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and on July 14, U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel sentenced him.
St. Louis Police arrested Robinson in August 2020 after surveillance cameras alerted authorities that a silver Pontiac Solstice was seen on Natural Bridge Boulevard with license plates registered to a Chevrolet pickup. The Solstice also had been reported stolen, according to Robinson’s plea agreement.
Officers found the Solstice parked in front of an apartment complex at 1106 St. Louis Ave. Robinson was seen taking items from the car into one of the apartments. When Robinson got into the Solstice, officers arrested him. After a brief struggle, he was subdued, and officers found a loaded .9-milimeter Beretta pistol in Robinson’s pants pocket, according to the agreement.
In October 2020, St. Louis Police arrested Robinson again after officers were called to the 5 Star Market, 3900 S. Broadway Blvd., by a man who said a robber took his gun and money. Officers identified the vehicle the suspect had been driving and tracked it to the area of Page Boulevard and Walton Avenue. Officers tried to stop him, but he fled onto I-70, court records show.
During a police chase, Robinson reached speeds of more than 100 mph on the interstate before exiting and driving at high speeds through city streets. While fleeing, the vehicle hit a curb, damaging a front tire, but Robinson kept driving and got onto I-55, according to the agreement.
He got off the interstate, and officers disabled the vehicle he was driving in the 5100 block of Vermont Avenue. Robinson ran from the vehicle, climbing at least two fences before officers caught up to him and arrested him, the report said.
The officers found a Glock 26 pistol and a Glock 19 pistol in a bag Robinson was carrying. The Glock 19 had been reported stolen at the 5 Star Market, according to the plea.
Robinson previously was convicted of at least two felony charges in St. Louis. In May 2016, he pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a weapon stemming from a November 2015 incident, and in December 2018, he pleaded guilty to felony resisting arrest during a March 2018 incident, court records show.
