Three kayaks were stolen from a shed in the 2000 block of Flucom road southeast of De Soto. The brand-new kayaks and damage to the shed were estimated at $1,250, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The theft happened sometime between July 1 and Aug. 14 when someone damaged the lock on the shed and stole the three kayaks – two yellow ones and a blue one. A caretaker for the property noticed the damaged lock, and when the victim was contacted, investigators learned the shed had contained the kayaks, which were missing, the report said.
Sgt. Matthew Moore said Aug. 20 the canoes had not been recovered, and no arrests had been made. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at 636-797-5515.
