Kasey Michael Whitworth, 40, who previously lived in Imperial, has been charged with drug possession while currently serving a 14-year prison sentence at the Algoa Correctional Center in Jefferson City, court documents show.
Whitworth has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony, following separate arrests in Arnold earlier this year; and a second or third offense of driving with a revoked license and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, both class A misdemeanors that are each punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,000. Because he is a prior offender, the drug charge may be punished as a class C felony, which carries a penalty of three to 10 years in prison, according to court records.
Whitworth pleaded guilty to a possession of a controlled substance charge in October 2023 in Jefferson County following an April 2021 arrest in Arnold, court documents said.
On Nov. 13, Whitworth was transferred to the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, and he is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 8, court records show.
Whitworth is currently serving consecutive seven-year prison sentences for receiving stolen property, according to the Missouri Department of Corrections.
An Arnold Police officer stopped a 2012 Mazda M6 because the car didn’t have license plates on Jan. 19 near the intersection of Missouri State Road and Astra Way Drive. Whitworth told the officer that he did not have a driver’s license, according to the case’s probable-cause statement.
Court records show Whitworth was convicted of driving with a revoked license in October 2021 in St. Francois and Wayne counties and in December 2021 in Arnold. He also was convicted of driving while intoxicated in November 2008 in Joplin, the report said.
After the officer arrested Whitworth, he allegedly found Whitworth had a glass container with a controlled substance inside it. The Missouri State Highway Patrol tested the substance and reported that it was methamphetamine, according to the report.
The officer also allegedly found a hypodermic needle in the car that had a liquid inside it. The liquid was identified as meth by the Highway Patrol, the report said.
Whitworth also was arrested March 17 after an Arnold Police officer saw him coming out of a business and arrested him on a warrant for violating the terms of his probation and parole, according to a probable-cause statement. Whitworth allegedly had three bags with crystal-like substances inside them and a glass pipe with residue in the pockets of his jacket and jeans. The Highway Patrol identified the substances and residue as meth, the report said.
