Justin W. Jovanovic, 39, who lives in the Hillsboro area, has been charged for allegedly assaulting a woman and boy at a home in the 6200 block of Reynolds Creek Drive west of Hillsboro, according to court documents.
The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on June 4 charged Jovanovic with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child creating a substantial risk, a class D felony punishable by up to seven years in prison; and third-degree domestic assault, a class E felony that carries a penalty of up to four years in prison, court records show.
As of June 10, Jovanovic was being held on a $10,000 cash-only bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court documents said.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement, a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy was called to the Hillsboro-area on May 22 due to a domestic disturbance. Jovanovic was no longer at the home when the deputy arrived.
The woman and boy told the deputy that Jovanovic hit the woman in the face. The woman, who had been in a relationship with Jovanovic, had a mark near her left eye, the reports said.
The two told the deputy that Jovanovic had grabbed the boy by the throat and held him against the wall for four or five seconds before letting go. The boy was younger than 17 years old, according to the report.
