Cedar Hill man charged with domestic assault

Justin Gosser

Justin Matthew Gosser, 42, of Cedar Hill has been accused of attacking a woman he was in a relationship with at the time. The man was holding a set of keys when he allegedly hit the woman in the face, according to court documents.

The Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office on Sept. 11 charged Gosser with second-degree domestic assault, a class D felony. However, the charge will be treated as a class C felony, which carries a penalty of three to 10 years in prison, because he is a persistent offender, court records said.

Gosser was arrested Sept. 19 and was being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court documents show.

Gosser was arguing with the woman when he allegedly hit her in the face multiple times while clutching the keys. He had left by the time a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived, according to the case’s probable-cause statement.

The woman told the deputy she believed she lost consciousness during the alleged attack. The deputy reported the woman’s face was bruised and she appeared to have been cut near her mouth by a key.

According to court records, Gosser was found guilty of possession of a controlled substance in November 2013 in Jefferson County, and he was found guilty of attempted manufacture a controlled substance in July 2012 in Jefferson County.
