A Hillsboro-area man has been accused of threatening to shoot a pregnant woman and himself, according to court documents.
Justin Bradley Coleman, 25, who lives east of Hillsboro, was charged June 15 with first-degree harassment, a class E felony punishable by up to four years in prison, and armed criminal action, an unclassified felony that carries a penalty of three to 15 years in prison, court records said.
He was arrested on June 14. As of Monday, June 16, he was being held without bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, court documents show.
According to the case’s probable-cause statement, on June 14, Coleman and the woman were arguing at their home in the 3600 block of Gertrude Drive east of Hillsboro. During the argument, Coleman put a gun next to his head, and he then put his head next to the woman’s head and allegedly threatened to shoot the gun.
Coleman told a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deputy that he was not suicidal, and he did not threaten to harm himself or the woman. He also said he was trying to get away from the woman before officers were called, the report said.
However, a loaded gun was found in Coleman’s boot, according to the report.
