A Jefferson College employee was found dead in her car Feb. 14 in the parking lot at the Arnold campus, 1687 Missouri State Road, authorities reported.
The deceased, Rosita “Rosie” Cooney, 58, of Imperial, worked as a building services technician in custodial services at the building.
“At approximately 3 p.m., she was found by another employee and was not responsive, so EMS was called,” Jefferson College Police Chief Don Riffe said. “They confirmed she was deceased."
Riffe said authorities learned that Cooney had “heart issues,” and the death is not considered suspicious.
Cooney had worked for the college for 15 1/2 years, said Roger Barrentine, the Jefferson College director of marketing and public relations.
“Rosie was a very well-liked employee who took great pride in her work and service to others,” Barrentine said. “Her warm smile and infectious positivity will be missed by her fellow co-workers and the students she knew at Jefferson College. On behalf of everyone at the college, we send our most sincere and reverent condolences to Rosita's family on her untimely passing."
