The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a silver 2008 Jeep Wrangler parked outside a home in the 2100 block of Hwy. 67 in the Festus area. The Jeep was stolen between 10 a.m. June 28 and 1:30 p.m. July 1, the Sheriff’s Office reported.
The victim told deputies she was selling the Jeep and had parked it in the home’s driveway after getting permission from the homeowner. The Jeep was valued at $5,000, the report said.
The victim said a spare key was inside the Jeep, and deputies didn’t see signs of forced entry into the Jeep, according to the report.
As of July 14, the Jeep had not been recovered and there were no suspects, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said. Anyone with information about the theft should call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
