Arnold Police are trying to identify a man who allegedly was seen stealing an SUV left unlocked and running outside a Circle K in Arnold. The owner, a 25-year-old Arnold man, said the silver 2006 Jeep Liberty was stolen after he went into the convenience store, 2001 Richardson Road, after pumping gas, authorities reported.

Police were called at about 5:15 a.m. Aug. 27 to the gas station after the Jeep was stolen. The victim said he had left his iPhone 8 in the Jeep. The Jeep was valued at about $2,500, and the phone at about $250, the report said.

Surveillance video showed a blue Saturn four-door sedan drive near the Jeep at the pumps. A man wearing a white shirt and black shorts got out of the Saturn and got into the Jeep, according to the report.

Then the Jeep was driven away from the gas station at a high rate of speed. The Jeep was last seen traveling north on I-55, Arnold Police reported.

As of Sept. 2, neither the Jeep nor cell phone had been recovered, and the man seen in the surveillance video had not been identified, Detective Lt. Jason Valentine said. He asks anyone with information about the incident to call Arnold Police at 636-296-3204.
