The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of items worth $2,400 from a shipping container that had been converted into living quarters. The burglary happened at about 9:40 a.m. May 20 in the 6000 block of Clayton Huskey Road north of Hillsboro, the Sheriff’s Office report.
The victim said he had not been on the property, which is used for camping and storage, for about a week before discovering the burglary. He said when he returned, he discovered the side door on the shipping container had been forced open and items had been stolen from inside, the report said.
He said stolen items included a Harbor Freight brand generator worth $500, a Craftsman battery-operated tool set worth $500, a Stihl chainsaw worth $500, a Porter Cable compressor worth $250, a Milwaukee battery-operated tool set worth $250, a grinder worth $100, a Craftsman tool box worth $100, three BB guns worth a total of $100, and a Chicago welder worth $100, according to the report.
As of May 28, none of the stolen items had been recovered and no suspects had been identified, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said. Anyone with information about the incident should call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
