The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is seeking charges against a 27-year-old Festus man for allegedly stealing $6,000 in items from a property in the 300 block of Hellespont Drive in Olympian Village. The items, including truck parts and copper piping, were located at a nearby home, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

Sheriff’s Office spokesman Grant Bissell said April 26 that he didn’t know if the suspect had been located and arrested.

According to the report, the victim said he learned on April 7 that trespassers had been on his property, and he found the truck parts and copper piping missing. He also said he was told the suspect had been staying at a nearby residence, the report said.

The victim said he drove by the residence where the suspect reportedly was staying and spotted some of his missing possessions on a flatbed truck. So, the victim contacted the Sheriff’s Office, according to the report.

A deputy went to the home in the 200 block of Hellespont Drive with the victim and the victim identified $2,500 worth of his possessions. The stolen items were returned to the victim.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 636-797-5515.
