Eureka Police patch

Eureka Police are investigating the theft of items from a 55-year-old Eureka man’s storage unit at Storage Rentals of America, 306 W. Fourth St., in Eureka. The man said an entertainment center with speakers worth about $1,000 was missing from the unit, police reported.

The man said other items may have been taken, and he had up to $40,000 worth of items in the locker, the report said.

Police were called at about 5 p.m. Jan. 29 after the man had a storage facility employee cut the lock off his unit. The man said he needed the lock cut because he had lost his key about two months ago, and the employee said when she cut the lock, it appeared to have been damaged, according to the report.

As of Feb. 6, the stolen items had not been recovered, and no suspects had been identified, Lt. Brett Grittini said. He also said the man had not reported additional stolen items as of Feb. 6.

Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call the Eureka Police at 636-938-6600.
