Arnold Police got a call about a fight at the Quality Inn and ended up arresting a 24-year-old Imperial woman and a 25-year-old O’Fallon man for a variety of alleged offenses. At 4:45 p.m. Jan. 14, the police were called to the hotel, 3610 West Outer Road, a report said.

Five or six people had been fighting at the hotel, but by the time officers arrived, all but the Imperial woman and O’Fallon man had left, and those two were found in a hotel room. A third person who wasn’t arrested also was inside that room, Detective Lt. James Jones said.

After the woman, who reportedly had assaulted the O’Fallon man, was taken into custody, she complained about her handcuffs being too tight, so while an officer was loosening them, she resisted arrest, Jones said.

“She was yelling and screaming and became combative,” he said.

Jones said the woman also spit on and kicked at an officer. The officer was not hurt, Jones added.

The O’Fallon man reportedly was found with drug paraphernalia and a white powder believed to be narcotics. In addition, the man already was wanted in St. Louis and St. Louis County on outstanding warrants for traffic violations, Jones said.

He said both the woman and man were taken into custody and booked.

The woman appeared to be under the influence of narcotics and reportedly made suicidal statements, so she was taken to Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City for evaluation. The man was held for the other law enforcement agencies that wanted him on warrants, Jones said.

He said Arnold Police will seek charges against the pair through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Charges for peace disturbance, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer will be sought against the woman. Depending on results from the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man for possession of drugs, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and peace disturbance, Jones said.
