Todd M. Ruble, 23, of Imperial has been sentenced to 10 years in prison following felony charges for burglary, stealing and leaving the scene of accidents, as well as probation violations, court records indicate.

In August 2010, Ruble crashed a car stolen from St. Louis into a yard in the 1100 block of Oak Hollow Drive in Imperial, causing more than $1,000 in damage to the lawn, retaining wall, fences and landscaping, and then ran from the scene, the probable-cause statement said.

After that, Ruble unlawfully entered a nearby home in the 800 block of Oak Mill Lane, while residents were inside, and stole keys, an iPhone and an iPhone dock and then used the keys to steal the victim’s vehicle, the report said.

Next, Ruble crashed that vehicle into a yard in the 5500 block of Oak Pointe Drive, causing more than $1,000 in damage to the vehicle and the residence, and then ran away, according to the report.

When he was taken into custody, he was found with several items he said he had stolen from vehicles parked around Hwy. 61-67 and Montebello Road in the Imperial area. He also had keys and a cell phone that he had taken when he burglarized the home on Oak Mill Lane, the report said.

During questioning, a deputy smelled a strong odor of alcohol on Ruble’s breath, and he admitted that he had been drinking, even though he was underage, according to the report.

Ruble pleaded guilty to the charges and in December 2010, he was sentenced to 10 years for the burglary charge, to seven years for stealing a motor vehicle and to two four-year terms, one for each of the leaving the scene of an accident charges. However, the sentences were suspended, and he got five years’ probation.

He violated the probation and in November 2011, the sentences were executed, although they were to be served concurrently, or at the same time. He got out early, though, in February 2012, after completing a 120-treatment program and was put on five years’ probation again, court papers show.

But, he again violated his probation and on Dec. 9, 2014, Jefferson County Div. 4 Circuit Judge Mark T. Stoll executed the sentences. They are to be served concurrently.

In addition, Ruble stole a car on May 10, 2014, in Imperial. In that case, Ruble, was riding with a woman and when she stopped at her home to check on her dog, Ruble left with the car, as well as with the woman’s cell phone, laptop computer and debit card that had been left in the car, the report said.

Ruble pleaded guilty and on Dec. 9, Stoll sentenced Ruble to four years for that felony stealing charge. That term also is to be served concurrently with the others.

Jefferson County assistant prosecuting attorney Steven W. Jerrell handled the cases.

Ruble currently is in the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre.
