A 39-year-old Imperial man was arrested for reportedly stealing a 2010 Nissan Altima parked outside a home in the 3900 block of Oak Valley Drive in Imperial. After he allegedly stole the car, he returned it to the home, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
A woman called the Sheriff’s Office at about 10 a.m. March 23 when the man parked the car in the driveway of her home, and she said he had taken it without her permission. The woman told deputies the man had been at her home the night before, and when she woke up, the car was gone, the report said.
Deputies arrived at the home while the man was still there, and he allegedly ran from them. However, he was arrested after a short chase, according to the report.
He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro, where he was booked and released pending the application for charges. The Sheriff’s Office will seek a charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for stealing a motor vehicle, spokesman Grant Bissell said.
