A 37-year-old Imperial man was arrested in connection with the theft of a pickup from the commuter lot at Richardson and Vogel roads in Arnold. The theft happened overnight between March 24 and March 25, and the man was arrested on March 25, Arnold Police reported.
The victim reported at 8:10 a.m. March 25 that the pickup, a 2000 GMC Sierra valued at $3,000, had been stolen off the lot. At 4:15 p.m. that same day, the victim reported to police that he spotted the pickup passing by at Old Lemay Ferry and Pomme roads, Lt. Tom Leassner said.
Arnold Police patrolled the area and spotted the pickup in the 300 block of Rockview Circle. The suspect allegedly was removing items from the pickup at the time, Leassner said.
“Numerous items not belonging to the (pickup) owner were located inside,” the report said.
In addition, the pickup’s ignition was damaged, so the truck was towed from the scene, according to the report.
Leassner said the man also allegedly was found with methamphetamine and more than 50 pills.
The man was booked and released pending application for warrants. Depending on results from the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance, Leassner said.
