A 40-year-old Imperial man was arrested after a police dog allegedly found methamphetamine, hydrocodone, Xanax and marijuana in his car. The man was arrested about 4 p.m. Jan. 15 during a traffic stop on Hwy. 141 near Astra Way, Arnold Police reported.

Officers stopped the car the man was driving, a 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, after he allegedly failed to use a turn signal. Police also discovered the license plates on the car were registered to a Honda, the report said.

The man already was wanted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for violating terms of his probation for felony possession of meth, hydrocodone, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to the report.

A police dog was used to inspect the car, and the dog alerted officers to the several drugs allegedly found in the Alero’s center console and trunk. The man was arrested and taken to the Police Station, where he was booked and held for the Sheriff’s Office, the report said.

Depending on the drug analysis, Arnold Police will seek charges against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia, Capt. Rich Shular said.
