A 27-year-old House Springs man allegedly stole about $1,700 worth of tools from a home being renovated on Mockingbird Hill in House Springs. At least some of the stolen tools were recovered at the suspect’s home, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The victim told deputies the rear door was forced open at a home he was working on and several power tools were stolen at about 3:30 a.m. Feb. 8. He also said he confronted the suspect, who also lives on Mockingbird Hill, and recovered nine of the stolen tools, the report.
A person who shares a home with the suspect allowed a deputy to search the home, and the deputy allegedly found two more of the victim’s tools there. It is unclear in the report if all the stolen tools were recovered.
Deputies located the suspect on Feb. 19 at his home on Mockingbird Hill, arrested him and took him to the Sheriff’s Office, where he was booked and released pending application for warrants. The Sheriff’s Office is seeking a burglary charge against the man through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, spokesman Grant Bissell said.
