A House Springs couple – a 34-year-old man and 31-year-old woman – were arrested July 18 for endangering the welfare of a child after they allegedly passed out in a vehicle parked in front of the Dierberg’s store in the Arnold Commons complex at Hwy. 141 and Old Lemay Ferry Road, Arnold Police report.
Police got a call around 9:40 p.m. about the couple, and officers reportedly found them passed out inside the vehicle, along with a 9-month-old child strapped into a car seat, Arnold Police Maj. Nick McBroom said.
The two appeared “highly intoxicated on narcotics and unable to care for their infant,” the report said.
Officers allegedly found narcotics and paraphernalia, including syringes, a plastic bag and a pill-crushing spoon inside the vehicle, McBroom said.
The man already was wanted on a felony warrant from Johnson County, Ill., McBroom said.
Both the man and woman were arrested for drug possession and endangering the welfare of a child, and charges will be sought through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, McBroom said.
The child was turned over to a family member, and police notified Children’s Division, the report said.
