A 42-year-old man believed to be homeless allegedly tore a hole in a mattress while being held in an Arnold Police Station jail cell. The incident occurred Jan. 22, Capt. Rich Shular said.

Arnold Police got a call at 9:04 p.m. that the man, who was at the Circle K gas station, 504 Jeffco Blvd., in Arnold appeared intoxicated. Because the man was believed to be homeless and because of his condition and the cold temperatures, he was taken to the Police Station. However, after being placed in a cell, he allegedly became agitated and damaged the mattress, police reported.

The man was released pending application for warrants. Arnold Police will seek charges against him through the Arnold Municipal Court for public intoxication and second-degree property damage, Shular said.
