A home in the 100 block of South Lake Drive in the Hillsboro area recently was burglarized. A .177-caliber pellet rifle valued at $300 was stolen, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports.

The burglary happened between April 11 and April 19, when someone apparently forced open an exterior door to the patio and then a door from the patio to the inside of the home. The gun appeared to be the only thing stolen, the report said.

During the investigation, a neighbor told deputies he saw a tall, thin white man with brown hair walking near the home around 2 p.m. April 18.

As of Wednesday (April 26), the gun had not been recovered, and no arrests had been made, Cpl. Matthew Moore said. Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office tip line at 636-797-5515.
