A 30-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman, both of Hillsboro, have been arrested in connection with a Festus-area burglary. The incident occurred June 5 at a house in the 100 block of Glenfield Drive, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.

According to the report, the two suspects forced open a basement door and stole $3,400 in cash, jewelry and a Ruger semiautomatic handgun from the home. Grant Bissell, a Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said the handgun, jewelry and some of the cash had been recovered and returned to the victims.

Bissell also said the suspects were arrested and released pending application for warrants. The Sheriff’s office will seek charges against the pair through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
