A 36-year-old Hillsboro man has been charged with felony sexual assault against a 92-year-old woman at the skilled care center where she lived and he worked.
Robert Leensvaart, 36, was employed as a certified nurse aide at Crystal Oaks in Crystal City for about 18 months. Another nurse saw him lying on a patient’s bed with the patient, Crystal City Police reported.
Leensvaart was fired the same day, Feb. 19, and interviewed by police. As the case was being processed for possible charges through the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Leensvaart left town.
Crystal Oaks notified residents’ families of the incident in a Feb. 20 letter.
Charges against Leensvaart were issued in August and in late September, U.S. marshals located him in southern Missouri, served the warrant and arrested him.
He was being held today (Oct. 6) in the Jefferson County Jail on a $10,000 cash-only bond.
Sexual assault against an elderly person is a class C felony and is punishable by up to seven years in prison.
